Cockatiel Super scared?

My cockatiel got really scared when we were in the house and he was smashing into walls. He was not asleep and went so crazy in his cage so we let him out. He smashed into a fan and two walls before landing and we couldnt calm him down. His crest wont go down, help? And he is nearly two if it helps, not really a baby...
